Secret Handshake is the DJ duo composed of Nile Ashton and Lady Lavender.
In 2019, they launched their collaborative project as an event series, merging their love for dance, visual art, and forward-thinking electronic music. Over the years it has evolved to continue pushing the envelope of the New Orleans underground: faster, heavier, and uncompromising in their selections.
The duo's immersive club experiences all come with a unifying mission: to captivate the new generation of club goers and electronic music lovers. Since 2019, Secret Handshake has produced events with world-renowned artists such as X-Coast, Bianca Oblivion, Martyn Bootyspoon, and more.

Wheat are the origins of Secret Handshake?
We met in New Orleans and bonded over music - specifically Miami Bass, Florida Breaks, and Detroit Techno + Electro. We were put on some lineups as b2b and people really enjoyed it, so we decided to dig deeper and make a project dedicated to specifically these styles.
What defines Secret Handshake’s community?
Secret Handshake’s community has a love for underground music and dance. Our community are ravers of all ages and experience levels. Electro and breaks are at our core - but we bring together music lovers of all kinds.
How does your work reflect who you are and where you're from?
We Beth being from Southern California and Nile being from North Carolina - our project truly reflects how we have wide ranging taste but are able to come together and make something cohesive. With our project being born in New Orleans, we will always have a strong tie to the underground there.
